Once again, we all have a wonderful time, at Jack London Square. Many folks could not make it and, too all of you who couldn't attend, you were missed.Okay, OKAY, before I go into all the gossip, I'm sure you all want to know who won. Need you ask, really? Come on now --- we all know that to win is to lose and to lose is to win! So the LOSER'S TROPHY goes to Yours Truly. What can I say --- I didn’t want to show my superlative Backgammon playing skill and, thus, made many bad moves --- all calculated, you see!
I probably have to say the win went to either the Wretched Seal who backgammoned me or Sherry-the-Elf who jinxed her wonderful Egyptian board against anyone but herself! Christine and Johnny (they beat me, too) --- but, more importantly, yes, they really, REALLY got married --- I saw the pictures and she was gorgeous and he had an incredible grin on his face!
When I said I'd be posting, they asked me to be sure to tell you all that THE WEDDING REALLY DID HAPPEN and they look delightfully in love and it's wonderful --- all the very best to you both and I say that even though you showed me absolutely NO RESPECT playing Backgammon with me! Harrumph! *;o)
Sherry brought Sadie, her wonderful woofer, so we all got doggy lovings and she had a delightful time nibbling all our goodies. The weather was spectacular, the company was stimulating, the dice rolled, friendly insults flew across the tables and a jolly good time was had by all.
Next time we throw this LIVE BACKGAMMON TOURNAMENT BASH, we expect ALL Californians and anyone else in the world to come out and join us! There is nothing funnier than trying to remember how to set up the board and which way you’re playing. Christine tried to take her two Home men and crossed directly over to my home to hit me … we’re talking about moving 22 spaces. Now show me the dice that have THOSE numbers on it ….. Oh, Right! She was using two CUBE DICE! Wonder why I never thought of that!
Well, that’s all for the Penguin Reporter. I’d be interested in knowing how many of my friends were betting on me to _________!
Thanks go out to Sherry from AFF for hosting the get-together and to all that showed up.

I am so glad that a good time was had by all who attended. I am shocked that the trophy was taken from our penguin, who has been putting her claim to it for weeks now. I guess we all have to "give" the wins away sometimes to make our friends feel good about their "skills" LOL.
Once again CONGRATULATIONS to the happy couple!!Kissy

Awww Kissy --- You are so right! We can't hog the Trophy each and every year! But, given my recent track record in the 3-4 tournaments I've played in Everest, I KNEW I was in for major trouble! Yee Gads -- I can't even get around a board without being Backgammoned at every turn, how the heck am I gonna win the Trophy?I put up a good smoke-screen,though, didn't I - pompously declaring that I would be the guaranteed winner, etc., etc., etc., My cover is now blown for propagating fraudulent expectations.
What can I say: a penguin has to dream! We dream of flying free in the beautiful blue skies and we shall never know that joy. We dream of living in a nice condo in the South Pacific with the Trade Winds a’blowin’ and room service but, alas, we live in the freakin' snow at the BOTTOM OF THE WORLD! Have some compassion for us Rockhoppers!
(No wonder we squawk and are the noisiest penguins of all on the planet: we have a right to be annoyed! So there!)
I apologize to one and all that I can not come riding in on a gilded throne carried high by Sergio and his drop-dead gorgeous compatriots, holding the LIVE BACKGAMMON TROPHY high above my heads amidst welcoming and cheering crowds! Oh, sigh, oh! Sigh!
Next year! I promise! I will take names, kick butt and no prisoners will remain standing! Here! Here! It is so declared!
P.S. The Wedding Pictures were spectacular! They had perfect weather, perfect attire and, from what I understand, fabulous food and song and family and friends!
