I had prepared a post containing an explanation of why a "yahoo hand" does not exist in a response to Colt's post, and this itself may come out somewhere unexpected as i havent worked out the forum feature from the admin menu yet, however the point in question is simple... I jump your tourneys when you dont have enough buddies.... i say please and thankyou... i take arguments out of the lobby and i help old ladies across the road even when im tired.... why?? because its polite and shows respect for a demogrphic that deserve it..
Comparably, if you love this league so much for its "tourneys and great people" would it hurt you just to say gg instead of sulking off like a prepubescent teen due to the quality of the gameplay??Perpendicular to this, i once had access to a very basic version of the algorythm that yahoo used in its gin games a while ago before it adapted, but i will be getting hold of it and i will prove mathematically that these hands only appear to exist due to the fact that when you play these games online you encounter a significantly greater amount of hands than you would in life, and so it is inevitable that these rare occurances will happen more often....
This will take a couple months of work but hopefully it can put to bed individuals that moan that yahoo doesnt like them because u used a symbol in your username and such other conspiracy nonsense.. in the meantime, as an ambassador for the league, it wouldnt hurt individuals, tournament directors especially, to accomodate the social etiquette observed in the league by the vast majority of players- Just don't understand. Hello Diddidude,This is all stuff that has been known for year's and it is nothing new. I have been playing on yahoo gin for over 10 years now and now that I think about it. What I said in my post is rather pointless.
You all are right why not say good game because im making you feel better and im just going to go onto the next game anyway.
So thanks for pointing that out for me. It is really something when I sit here and think about things.
I have had a lot of my mind as in real life and maybe thats why i've been the way I have. I will not sit here and make things up to make myself look better or anything.
Like you said. The main reason for me being here is because I like to play and there is a lot going on here.
So from now on I will be more alert of the fact that this is a game and if im having a bad day , Maybe I should just go play a single player game and not let myself get the best of me. :)
Thanks
Colt

Please dont mistake the point im making here though, this is not aimed at Colt, this is just in reaction to his post is all.. i just think that we have a great bunch here, and we should all just enjoy it.. OF COURSE we're here to win, some more than most... i dont care if i lose 20 games in a row, but i always try to make a bigger streak.. so if i lose 20 then win ten thats great by me... we all have lil goals and stuff that we wanna do... some are here for social purposes and dont really give a monkies about gin
If someone wants to come, tear up the league and be admired for thier gin play, fair game to them..
my problem is that whilst we are doing that we shouldnt be annoying the guys that are here to have fun...
lets face it, people would get upset if you never said good luck to them at the start.... and you always say that colt, but if u r solely here to win, then you dont really mean it... so for the sake of being polite could you not take the same sentiment with saying good game? stuff like that goes a long way towards people, especially new players! after all, as td's its our job to give em what they want a lil bit too and new players love thinking "wow i beat one of the admins" or regulars or whatever...
manors cost nothing...Also interestingly enough i got some of the data from my m8's dissertation that i mentioned, out of 100 people, over 10,000 hands each the largest anomoly on cards was about +0.14% / -0.13%
now, we assume that the "luck" of a player is a random distribution, which it is by definition.... then 95% of players fall within 1 Standard deviation of the mean ( mean being +/- 0%) the standard deviation in this study was 0.03, which means that 95% of the player's over 10000 hands gained less or lost less than 0.08% from the mean... a whopping 97 % fall within 2SD as typical.. meaning that 97% of players got less than 0.06% of an advantage / disadvantage as a result of random number generators which apparently were used to determine the cards on yahoo at the time...anywho, thats a side note for anyone that is mathematically interested
