My friend will always pick up a bower even if he has no other trunp.
Last night he could not understand why I passed up a J of Diamond when I did not have any other trump or offsuits higher than a Queen
He had in his hand the left, Ace and a nine of trump with two other off suits.what is the correct strategy here?
Please Help!

i agree play how you like . But If it were me Id pass on a single right with no off aces . If I were a pard to a p that has the right up- pick up lone bower View

There are a lot of theories on when to do what and why when playing euchre. The Ten Commandments of euchre would tell you never to order the right to your partner unless you are going alone. Others would say differently. I say we all get dealt 5 cards and we all play them differently. HAVE FUN, thats what we are here for :)- pick up lone bower View

I'd say you were correct in passing with what you had in your hand. He however should have ordered it to you whether he was your partner or not. If he was your partner he was surely silly to pass. If he was your opp it may have been a tough make but he should have had confidence he could pull the right from you and count on either his own off suit or his partner for one trick on top of his left ace- pick up lone bower View

I am no one and not a pro at this........... but my thinking is play the way that you want to. Not the way someone wants you to play. You know what you have in your hand thats all that should count- pick up lone bower View

HE should have ordered if he wanted it in my opinion.

My question should be:
what should HE have done in this case?
