This game is played exactly how it sounds. Every time you bid....you only have two choices....bid 3 or bid Nil. Every player must chose one of these two bids every hand through the entire game. There are no DNs allowed

Bid 3

This is a simple game. Every player, every hand the entire game must bid three. No more, no less, and no Nils or DNs allowed.

If it is your turn to bid, and you have none of the suit that you are supposed to be mirroring....your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed in this game.

Copy Cat

In this game, the first person of every hand will bid their hand. Every other play must copy that first bid. Nils are allowed and DNs are allowed as long as all 4 players agree to bid DN. Example: If the first person bids 3, every person at the table must bid 3.

Crawl

In this game, every player the entire game will bid 3. You must play your cards in order from lowest to highest. So the first play of each hand will be the lowest card of your hand, and each following play will be the lowest of that suit played. Example: If a 2 of Hearts is played, each player must follow Hearts playing the lowest Heart they have in their hand. Do this with all suits. No other bid is allowed in this game.

Dealer Picks Niller

In this game, the first bidder of every hand must pick one person to bid Nil. All other players must bid the number of Spades in their hand. If you have no Spades your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed.

Deuce

Ditto

In this game, The second bidder must copy the first bidder's bid. The fourth bidder must copy the third bidder's bid. The first and third bidder of every hand may bid as normal. Nils are allowed but no DNs.

Dirty Spades

In this game, the first bidder of each hand will call what suit to mirror. Example: If the first bidder's choice is to mirror Hearts, everyone will bid the number of Hearts in their hand. If you have no Hearts your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed in this game.

Double Nil Down

In this game, every player will bid DN, every hand of the entire game. No other bid is allowed including Nil.

Fire

In this game, the 1st and 4th bidder of every hand must mirror Hearts (bid the number of Hearts in your hand, if none bid Nil). The 2nd and 3rd bidder of each hand must mirror Diamonds (bid the number of Diamonds in your hand, if none bid Nil).

Hang 'Em

In this game, the 1st and 2nd bidder of each hand must bid 2. The third bidder will bid as normal, you may bid anything except for Nil or 1. The last bidder of each hand must bid so that the total table bid equals 14 tricks. Example: 1st and 2nd bidders bid 2. 3rd bidder bids 3. The last bidder will have to bid 7 to make the table bid equal to 14 tricks. The last play must bid Nil if the total table bid already equals 14. No DNs allowed.

Hang Man

In this game, the person with the King of Spades in their hand must bid Nil and chose a person from the opposing team to bid Nil. That person from the opposing team will then chose a suit for every player to mirror (for a detailed example of mirroring please see Mirror Spades below). If none of the mirrored suit in your hand, your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed.

Homicide

In this game the first 3 bidders bid like regular spades. The only difference is the last bidder must make the total table bid equal 14. Example: 1st bidder bids 2, 2nd bidder bids 4, 3rd bidder bids 2....the last bidder would have to bid 6 so that the total table bid will equal 14. Nils are allowed in this game but no DNs.

Jacker

In this game, the person with the Jack of Diamonds in their hand must bid Nil. Every other player will bid as normal. Nils are allowed but no DNs.

Kiss of Death

This game is similar to bid 3.....the difference is, every player, every hand the entire game must bid 4. No Nils or DNs allowed.

Last Man Dead

This game is played and bid just like regular spades. The only difference is that the last bidder of every hand must bid Nil. So the last player to bid in every hand must bid Nil. Nils are allowed in this game but no DNs.

Losers Win

This game is the complete opposite of what you've been taught. At the end of the game, the team with the lowest score wins. Nils are allowed but no DNs.

Low Ball

In this game, every player will bid as normal. Cards must be played in order from lowest to highest in all suits. Nils are allowed if you dare but no DNs. For example see Crawl above.

Lucky 7

In this game the score or the bidding does not matter. The object of this game is to be the first team to take 7 tricks every hand. The first team to take 7 tricks in the hand wins that hand. When a hand is won, you skip the hand and replay. The first team to win a total of 7 hands wins the game. No Nils or DNs allowed in this game as the object is to take tricks not try to NOT take tricks.

Make Up The Difference

In this game, the first three bidders of every hand bid just like regular spades. You think you can make 4 tricks you bid 4, if you think you have Nil, bid nil. The major difference is the last bidder on every hand must make the total table bid equal 13 tricks. Example: 1st bidder bids 2, 2nd bidder bids 4, 3rd bidder bids 2.....this would make the total table bid equal 8.....the last bidder would then have to bid the remaining 5 tricks left on the table to equal a total table bid of 13 tricks. Nils are allowed but no DNs.

Mirror Hearts with a Twist

In this game every play will mirror the hearts in their hand. This simply means that your bid will equal the number of hearts you hold in your hand. Example: If you have 3 hearts in your hand, your bid will be 3. If you have 6 hearts in your hand, your bid will be 6. If you have no hearts in your hand, your bid will be Nil. The twist is that the player that holds the Ace of Hearts in their hand.....must bid Nil. So basically.....bid the number of hearts in your hand....if you have no hearts, bid Nil....if you have the Ace of hearts, bid Nil. No DNs allowed in this game.

Mirror Side

In this game, one person from every team must bid Nil. The other person from that team must mirror the spades in their hand. So if your partner bids Nil, your bid will equal the number of spades in your hand, and vice versa.

Mirror Spades

In this game, you will mirror the spades in your hand. This means your bid will equal the number of spades in you hand. Example: If you hold 2 spades in your hand, your bid will be 2. If you hold 7 spades in your hand, your bid will be 7. If you have no spades in your hand, your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed in this game.

Mirror Whiz

In this game you have the choice of either bidding the number of Spades in your hand, or bidding Nil. You may chose whether you would like to attempt a Nil or bid on your Spades. No other bids are allowed.

Murder

Nils 'R' Us

In this game, one person from each team must bid Nil. The other player of the team must bid DN. So if your partner bids Nil, you must bid DN. If your partner bids DN, you must bid Nil.

Niner

In this game, the person with the 9 of Spades in their hand must bid Nil. All other players will bid as normal. Nils are allowed but no DNs.

Odd or Even

In this game, the bidding is the same as regular spades. The difference is, if your partner bids an odd number of tricks (Ex: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13) then you must bid an odd number of tricks as well. If your partner bids an even number of tricks (Ex: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) then you must bid an even number of tricks as well. No Nils or DNs allowed in this game.

Old Maid Spades

This game is played and bid just like regular spades. The exception is that the person with the Queen of Spades in their hand must bid Nil. Every hand of the entire game is played this way. Nils are allowed but no DNs.

Pressure

In this game, you will mirror your spades. You must bid the number of spades in your hand. Example: If you have 3 spades your bid will be 3. If you have no spades your bid will be Nil. You must trump (cut trick with a spade) if you are out of the suit that is played, even if your partner wins that trick. In this game Nils are allowed if you have no spades in your hand, but no DNs are allowed.

Progression

In this game, the first bidder of every hand must bid Nil, 1, 2, or 3. Each player after that will add one trick to the player before them for their bid. Example: 1st bidder bids 2, 2nd player bids 3, 3rd player bids 4, 4th player bids 5. Nils are allowed for 1st bidder only and no DNs are allowed.

Only bid Nil if you have none of the suit in your hand that you are bidding on. No DNs allowed.

Regular Spades (Rated and Unrated)

In this game you will bid the number of tricks that you can take. All regular Spades rules apply. Nils and DNs are allowed

Reflection

In this game, you must copy your partners bid. Example: If your partner bids 2, you must bid 2. If your partner bids 4, you must bid 4. If your partner bids Nil, you must bid Nil. Every hand of the game is played this way. No DNs allowed.

Reverse Crawl

In this game, every player will bid 3 the entire game. You must play in order of highest to lowest cards of all suits. For example, see Crawl above, and reverse it. No other bids are allowed in this game.

Royalty Spades

In this game, every hand of the entire game, each player will bid on the number of face cards of all suits in their hand. You bid only on the number of Jacks, Queens, and Kings....you do not bid on your Aces. So, if you have 1 Jack, 2 Queens, and 1 King....your bid will be 4. If you have no Jacks, Queens, or Kings in your hand, your bid will be Nil. No DNs are allowed in this game.

Roulette With Bots

In this game there will be two humans and two robots at each table. Each human will have a robot for a partner. Every hand for the entire game, both humans will bid Nil or DN (DN is preferred to motivate your robot to cover you). Each hand is played out until one human takes a trick (gets set for their Nil or DN....score does not matter in this game). When a human takes a trick, the hand is skipped and whoever has gotten set for their Nil or DN loses that hand. If no human takes a trick the entire hand (if robots cover both humans bids) skip the hand and no one wins that one...just play the next hand. This game is played as a best out of 7, 9, 11, or 13. You will repeat this process of bidding Nil or DN until one person is set for their bid the entire game. At the end of 7, 9, 11, or 13 hands (which ever number is being played that game), the winner is the person that won the highest number of hands out of the 7, 9, 11, or 13.

Strip Spades

The bidding in this game works exactly like Mirror Spades. Every person will bid the number of spades they hold in their hand. Example: If you have 3 spades in your hand, your bid will be 3. If you have no spades in your hand, your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed in this game. You CAN NOT play any spades until that is the only suit left in your hand or if you are forced to do so by another player leading a spade when that is the only suit left in their hand. You must remember to not cut a trick or lead off with a spade until every other suit is out of your hand, unless you are forced to do so by another player.

Suicide Spades

In this game, one person from each team of players MUST bid Nil. The other teammate bids their hand like normal spades. A tip to playing this game........when you are trying to chose whether to bid Nil or bid your hand like normal....try to decide whether you would have a better chance of making a Nil or covering your partner. If your partner bids his hand (ex: your partner bids 5), you must bid Nil no matter what you have in your hand. If your partner goes Nil...you must bid your hand even if you feel that you cannot cover your partners Nil. No DNs allowed in this game.

The person with the Ace of Spades must let the table know at the beginning of the hand. Do not read off your entire hand to the table or your partner. Good examples of table talk are...."Partner go Nil" or "Run those clubs partner." Just remember....you cannot read your hand off to your partner...you may give them instructions on what suit to play or how to bid.

Take Over

In this game, you must bid the number of Spades in your hand. If you have no Spades your bid will be Nil. When playing your cards, you must play a card higher than all the other cards on the table if you can, even if it is your partner's high card. If you are out of a suit, you must trump (cut the trick with a Spade) even if your partner has won the trick. If there is already a trump on the table and you are out of that suit, you must play over that trump with a higher Spade if you are able to do so. At the end of the game, the team with the lowest score wins.

Team Bid 7

In this game, each teams bid must equal 7. Nils are allowed but no DNs. If your partner bids Nil...you must bid 7. Example: If your partner bids 2, your bid must be 5 to equal 7. Unlucky Spades

In this game, the Ace, King, Queen, and Jack of spades determines your bid. The Ace of spades is worth 4 tricks, the King, Queen, and Jack are all worth 3 tricks. Example: If you have the Ace and Jack of Spades, your bid will be 7. If you have the King and Jack of spades your bid will be 6. If you do not have the Ace, King, Queen or, Jack of spades in your hand, your bid will be Nil. No DNs allowed in this game.

Wicked

In this game the person with the Ace of Spades may bid regular, but has to tell their partner to bid Nil. The partner that has to bid Nil must chose one person from the opposing team to bid Nil. The person from the other team that does not bid Nil must bid regular. No DNs are allowed.

HS RULES FOR TD’s AND HTD’s 1. All directors should be hosting at least 2 or 3 tourneys a week. We all understand that there is reasons why this can not happen but this can easily be solved by making a tourney ahead of time and if you can not be there to run them one of the HTD’s has the ability to run them for you. This means we can give equal time for other directors to be able to play in stead of just running them all the time. I should not be the same ones running tourneys all the time. 2. All directors must be in the lobby at least 15 minutes before the start of their tourney. This is for many different reasons. First, it helps to insure that tourneys can start in a timely fashion. Second, it gives the director a chance to advertise for our league so that we may be able to sign up any new members should they decide to join us for a game. 3. We should all start spamming about a half hour before tourney is scheduled to begin, this way we are not going past the time that a tourney should start waiting for players to get registered. This will help to be able to start tourneys on time and possibly lead to be able to have more tourneys scheduled to give more playing time in a given day. 4. Before you make your tourney you must remember to check the tourney calendar to make sure that there is not a tourney already made for the time that you want to make yours for. 5. All directors must give advanced warning of when they will not be available so that we can make sure that there is proper coverage. This obviously does not apply to emergency situations. 6. All directors are responsible for making sure the tourney tables are: standard, unrated, protected, and no force forfeit. It is your option for either you or the first player in match up called to make table. But it is the directors responsibility to make the Finals table. 7. All directors should enforce the timer rule once a player has been booted from table and lobby. The player has 10 minutes to make it back to table. If after 10 minutes and the player is not back, then the player is then DQed. After 5 minutes their partner has the opportunity to choose a sub. When the player has returned the sub must then stand. If the player has been DQed then you must let the player know and give them the opportunity to finish their game if they choose to. 8. All directors should show respect to all players and other director in the league. We are a family league so we must treat each other as if we were all one big family. If you want the same respect given to you then you must be willing to show that respect to others. Just because we are directors does not mean that we are better then our players, just remember we all started out as players at one point ourselves. So we should not be demanding when talking to our players. Always remember to use please and thank you, they may be simple words but to someone else it could mean the world. 9. Also being directors we are the ones that show by example. We do not tolerate cussing from any of our players, so in that same sense we should not cuss ourselves. Many players get easily offended when cuss words are used. 10. All directors should give the rules of the tourney and check kibbies as soon as all players have been seated. We have had problems in the past where non-league members have come to the table, looked at the players cards, and then announced at table what other players have had. When we see that a players still has their kibbies on, ask them politely to turn them off. 11. No director can sub in a game as long as there are available players in the lobby. Only if there is no other player to be found, then a director can sub. 12. As directors we must remember that the first person called in the match up is the first person to be invited to table. They are the ones who have the pick of what seat they want. 13. Also as directors we must also remember that in a sub game the first person called not only has the right to pick what seat they want first, but also they are the one who gets to pick their sub first. Then the second person can take their pick after that. 14. Also all directors should report any problems to either HTD’s or the Administrators, that you can not solve yourself.
