MyLeague has one of the simplest ranking systems ever used for competitive play. The concept was adopted from the ranking system used on the official Case’s Ladders. We call it a "Ladder" because each member holds a unique rank or "rung" that represents their standing among other members. The highest-ranked member holds the #1 Ladder position; for example, someone ranked #2 is ranked below the #1 member. The goal is to "climb" the Ladder all the way to the top!
- When you first join, you are placed in an “Unranked” category on the League.
- You become "Ranked" after winning your first League match. (Unranked members may play each other, and the winner becomes ranked at the bottom of the League.)
-
When you defeat a higher-ranked member, you move up in rank 50% the distance between their rank and your own.
- Example: If you are ranked #50 and you beat the #1 ranked member, then your new rank would be 25.
-
Your rank on the League does not go down if you lose a match unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY below you.
- Example: If you are ranked #5 and the #6 ranked member defeats you, then your new rank would be #6.
-
When members ranked below you are victorious against members ranked above you, it's possible the member will jump over you in rank and you will move down one rung. This depends on the ranks involved.
- Example(per 50% rank gain) :You are currently ranked #7. If the #10 ranked member defeats the #1 ranked member, then #10 will advance to the #5 rung and you will fall to the #8 rung.

League Names
- If your League name is deemed offensive or contains profanity, your account may be removed.
- If your League name is deemed abusive towards another member, your account may be removed.
- You can edit your League name by using the ‘My Account’ tab and choosing the ‘Edit Username’ option. If you have problems changing your League name, please use the ‘Contact Admin’ link, located on the 'Support' tab.
-
E-mail Address
- Your E-mail address must be kept current at all times, in case you need to be contacted. You can use the 'Edit E-mail Address' link on the 'My Account' tab to edit your E-mail address.
-
Password Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
- You are not permitted to share your password with anyone for any reason.
-
Inactivity
- In order to keep the League as dynamic as possible, your account will be automatically deleted if you are inactive for 210 days. However, one of the features of our Premium Membership Program is never being deleted for inactivity. Information regarding our Premium Membership Program can be found here .
-
Multiple Accounts
- Only one account is allowed per person. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- It is forbidden for more than one person to use or share the same account.
- Multiple accounts from the same location will be investigated and possibly removed.
-
Chat
- The best way to find League matches is to announce in chat that you are looking for a League match so that other members will know you are interested in League-play. You can also directly challenge a specific member in chat.
-
Formal Challenges
- Most Leagues permit the use of Formal Challenges. A complete overview of the Formal Challenge system can be found here .
-
8 time(s) Per Day
- You may play the same member 8 time(s) per day. However, you may play as many different members as you would like on any given day. A “MyLeague” day begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
-
Verify Information
- We recommend you ensure a potential opponent is also a member of the League before starting your match. You can do this very easily by searching for your opponent using the 'Search for Players' tool.
-
Opponents
- You are not allowed to report losses to another member that also plays from the same computer as you. Our security software will detect this activity if it is attempted, and participating accounts may be penalized or removed.
-
Sportsmanship
- The same rules that apply to behavior in chat (covered in a later section) also apply during matches.
-
Reporting the Loss
- In one-on-one matches, the loser of the match reports the loss to the winner.
- In partner matches, each member of the losing team reports a loss to both partners of the winning team. At the end of the match, you would either gain two wins or report two losses.
- In “free for all” matches (matches in which multiple opponents are competing against each other without partners), each loser of the match must report a loss to one overall winner.
- When playing matches with more than one opponent, it is important for losses to be reported in the proper order if rank will be affected by the order of report. You must report to the better-ranked opponent first in those cases. It is your responsibility to make sure you report in the correct order when necessary. Not doing so may result in penalty.
-
Unreported Matches
- If your opponent does not report their loss within one hour after completing the match or prior to starting another match, you should click on the “Contact Admin” link and then use the “Unreported Match” form.
-
Inactivity
- Members in the Top Ten must play a League match at least once every 5 days; otherwise, you will be automatically dropped five rungs and your inactivity counter is reset. There are no exceptions to this rule.
-
Cheating
- If you believe your opponent is cheating, then you should contact the Admin staff.
-
Abuse
- It is forbidden to abuse or harass another League member.
- It is important to remember that two wrongs do not make a right. If you are being harassed by another League member, contact the Admin staff for assistance. Do not take matters into your own hands or return the abuse, or you could be penalized as well.
-
Nice Guy Rule
- Please note that behavior guidelines govern all methods of communication. This includes chat, E-mail, message forums, instant messenger services, etc. Treat other members with respect!
Account Rules
Challenges
Note: Please consult the Admin staff regarding whether or not League challenges are permitted for this League. A challenge is defined as a request for a match with a higher-ranked member. Whether you are the challenger or the one being challenged, there are some rules that must be followed. Violating these rules may result in penalties. If you notice anyone violating these rules, please contact the Admin staff.
Playing a Match
Once you are ready to start playing a League match, there are some guidelines governing game play that you should keep in mind.
Reporting the Match
Once your match is completed, the loser of the match is responsible for reporting the loss immediately. You can report your matches using the 'Report Loss' button located on the 'Standings' tab. Please note the ‘Report Loss’ link should only be used for League matches and not for tournament matches; you should consult the TD with any questions regarding reporting tournament matches. If you have any problems reporting a loss, you should contact the Admin staff and request assistance.
Tournaments
The rules for a Tournament are determined by the Tournament Director hosting the event. You will find a summary of each individual Tournament, including a Rules page, if you follow the link for that specific Tournament.
League-Specific Rules
1) It is your responsibility as a Mozzacan to be courteous to all others in the lobby and in the game rooms at all times. In the game room you should say gh (good hand) after each hand at the table and gg(good game) in both the game room and lobby. You are also expected to follow the game by saying n3, nm, etc. Although we do not want this expectation to be a hardship for you while you are playing, too many people are now not using any courtesies at all which is not making for a fun or happy mozzie environment for anyone. This rule applies to both league and tourney games. 2) The tds, htds and admins work hard to provide you with tourneys. At the end of each tourney, please remember to thank the td. Although it isn't much for the time and effort expended, it is greatly appreciated by the staff. PLEASE STAY AT THE TABLE UNTIL THE TD HAS SAID GG TO BOTH PLAYERS!!!!! ANYONE LEAVING THE TABLE BEFORE THE TD HAS SAID GG WILL BE GIVEN A WARNING THEN WILL BE BOXED FOR ONE DAY AND THEN WILL BE BOXED FOR THREE DAYS IF ADDITIONAL VIOLATIONS CONTINUE THE INDIVIDUAL MAY GET BOXED FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME OR MAY BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE LEAGUE. 3) PLEASE ALWAYS USE CAPS IN GAME ROOM AND LOBBY!!!! WE HAVE SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE VISION IMPAIRED AND IT HELPS THEM A GREAT DEAL WHEN CAPS ARE USED. 4) There will be no slow play allowed during a tourney game. When playing in Tournaments, you MAY also play in another game as long as it does not slow down play. You may not slow down play to avoid the timer in order to win the game. If the TD feels this is the case, you will be given 2 warnings will be given. If your time does not improve, a DQ will result. Slow play constitutes play that is delayed in excess of a minute. In the event that time runs out, the player that received the warning for slow play will be DQed regardless of the score. 5) When you play a league game, the loser must report the game immediately after it ends. All tourney games are reported by the tds. 6) All league names have to match your Yahoo name. You may only have one league name in the league. IF you are caught playing on more than one league name the last league name you made will be deleted and you can face the penalty box. The league has the right to ask a person to change their name if profanity or other unacceptable phrases are used in the making of the league name. 7) ANY MEMBER THAT CONTINUOUSLY COMPLAINS IN MULTIPLE TOURNEYS ABOUT HOW THE GAME IS RAN, THE OPPONETS IN THE GAME AND APPEARS TO BE COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED WITH THE OPERATION OF THE LEAGUE AND TOURNEY ITSELF CAN BE SUBJECTED TO BOXING. IT IS UNFAIR TO ALL MEMBERS WHEN SOMEONE IS COMPLAINING SO MUCH THAT NO ONE IS HAVING FUN AND THE TDS ARE NOT EVEN ENJOYING RUNNING THE TOURNEYS. IF WE HAVE NO PLAYERS AND NO TDS TO RUN THEM THEN WE ARE NO LONGER A LEAGUE. WE WANT PLAYERS TO BE ABLE TO EXPRESS WHEN THINGS GO WRONG IN A TOURNEY OR ANY TYPE OF QUESTIONS OR PROBLEMS THEY MAY HAVE REGARDING TOURNEYS, HOWEVER WHEN THESE COMPLAINTS BEGIN OCCURING ON A DAILY BASIS WITH MULTIPLE TDS AND LG MEMBERS AND WHEN THESE COMPLAINTS ARE ALSO ADDRESSED IN THE LOBBY THEN WE HAVE A PROBLEM. PLEASE SHARE ANY ISSUES YOU HAVE WITH A TOURNEY BEING RAN WITH THE TD IN CHARGE OF THE TOURNEY AND A MEMBER OF THE ADMIN STAFF. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THE CONTINUED IMING AND DISCUSSION OF THE PROBLEM IN THE LOBBY. 8) ANY MEMBER THAT CONTINUOUSLY COMPLAINS IN MULTIPLE TOURNEYS ABOUT HOW THE GAME IS RAN, THE OPPONETS IN THE GAME AND APPEARS TO BE COMPLETELY DISSATISFIED WITH THE OPERATION OF THE LEAGUE AND TOURNEY ITSELF CAN BE SUBJECTED TO BOXING. 9) At all times mozzies should be kind to all people in the event that there is a dispute please take it to a table or IM do not discuss the problem in the lobby. In the event that two mozzies have a dispute in IM, it is possible that the person violating a mozzie rule can be boxed for this action. All disagreements that take place over IM will be looked at on a case by case basis. Please be sure that you save these messages if you feel a member of admin staff needs to look at them. If the admin staff is unable to have proof of the conversation then no action will be taken. 10) Please do not continuousy state that you are bored or do zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz in the lobby while waiting for tourneys. This is very disrespectful to the td that is trying to run the tourney. All rounds of tourneys will start when the previous round is finished. If the td chooses to start rounds early than that is simply a courtesy to all the players. Rounds starting early is not something that is required or should be expected. 11) It is your responsibility to understand the rules in both league and tournament games. These will be posted on the tourney page. Read them as you sign up to prevent confusion as to how the game is played. Td's will no longer accept "I didnt know that". In order to read the rules you must sign up individually, having others sign you up not only prevents your from reading the rules but also puts the TDs at risk for cases declaring that they are cheating and closing down not only the tournament but that TD from further being able to hold tourneys. 12) All tds have the final say in any tourney. If you feel a td mishandled a matter, then bring it to administration. The admin staff will address all parties in the situation and determine if the TD did make an error or should be disciplined for their action. AT NO TIME SHOULD THIS MATTER BE DISCUSSED WITH ANYONE BUT THE TD AND THE ADMIN STAFF. IF THIS PROBLEM IS DISCUSSED WITH ANY OTHER MEMBERS OF THE LEAGUE, THE PERSON THAT IS BRINGING THE PROBLEM TO THE ADMIN WILL BE BOXED IMMEDIATELY. THERE WILL NO LONGER BE LOBBY DISCUSSIONS OR ANY OTHER DISCUSSIONS REGARDING THE SITUATION. MOST MEMBERS DO NOT WANT TO HEAR IT AND IT PREVENTS THEM FROM HAVING A GOOD TIME WHILE PLAYING THEIR GAMES. 13) No cursing (this means no cuss words of any kind or any spelling variations) or profanity of any type is allowed in either the game room or the lobby. What might be a cuss word to one may not be to the other so the easiest solution is to say no cuss words and /or vulgar words. If you have a question on what may or may not be a cuss word you may ask an admin in IM only. Although we are all adults please also restrict any type of sexually explicit and/or ethnic related jokes or conversations in lobby, you never know who is on the other side of the computer and some people can be very offended. YOU WILL ONLY GET ONE WARNING IN LOBBY TO STOP THIS BEHAVIOR, IF YOU DO NOT YOU WILL GET ONE IM WARNING, IF YOU STILL FAIL TO STOP THEN YOU WILL BE BOXED AND THE MEMBERS MAY BE ASKED TO PUT YOU ON IGGY!!! 14) If you are frozen or booted during a tourney, the timer will be started as soon as your ping idle time reaches 3 minutes. You then will have 10 minutes to return. If you do not return in the allotted time, you will be DQ'D. Please note that the allotted time in timed or quick tourneys is 5 minutes. 15) There will now be 3 BRBs or a total of 10 minutes, whichever comes first, per game. We do understand that there are times when a situation arises in which you have to take care of the kids, or answer the door or use the restroom, etc. however these BRBs prevent the entire tourney from moving forward and slows down the following rounds. If your BRBs or the time when you should freeze exceed 10 minutes total or individually you will be DQed from the tourney. 16) In formal challenges, the table settings are 2/2/2 (regular) or 2/2/1 (cut). These games take priority over all others. They must be played within 3 days of the challenge being made. The player that challenges is the one that gets to pick the seat and the game. No other type of games are allowed to be played. A player may only issue one challenge per 5 days. 17) Any individual that threatens to leave the league in the lobby or on IM that goes out to all players, will be given 24 hours to either withdraw from the league or they will be boxed for one week. If this same individual threatens to leave the league again in the same manner then they will be kicked from the league. There will not be the continuous stirring up of emotions of the members in the lobby. Everyone is here to have fun and continually hearing someone talk about leaving is not a fun thing. 18) If there is a problem in a tourney game, please im the TD tell them the problem (player A is playing slow) and allow the td to come monitor the situation. IF no one tells the td there is a problem until after the game is over then the issue cannot be addressed at that time and the problem resolved. 19) There will be no FF allowed in tourney or league games. If a player FF's, he/she will be boxed for 3 days. Please ensure your table is on private. That way, in the event that either player gets booted, no one else can sit down at the table and FF. 20) Please do not sign up for a tourney and not play in it. An individual found to be doing this continuously may be boxed. Have the courtesy to let the td know immediately if you have to leave. We know emergency situations do arise. However, repeatedly signing up and not playing will result in the player being boxed. 21) There will be no restarts if an individual DQ'S even if there is no score. If you DQ in the game, you will automatically lose as the rules state. The rules are posted several times in the lobby and game room. There is no excuse for a person to DQ. If you don't understand the rules or have a question ask! If you are still confused about the rules before the game begins, find a league member who knows the rules and practice a hand or two before the tourney starts. 22) All tables for tournaments & league games will be made private. 23) In doubles league games and tournaments, subs are allowed. You may get a sub after 5 minutes of waiting for your partner. If your partner returns he/she must be allowed to sit and finish the game. In tournament play, you may not get a sub that was in the tourney and lost. You have to find a sub that was not in the tourney, in the event that there are no members that are available except those that have already lost in the tourney; you may get one of them to sub. The TD has the right to appoint the sub and to give approval if that sub is allowed to play. 24) PLEASE DO NOT START A TOURNEY GAME UNTIL THE TD HAS CAME INTO THE ROOM STATED THE TIME AND POSTED THE RULES. DO NOT LEAVE A GAME UNTIL THE TD HAS CAME IN AND SAID GG. PLEASE NOTE DUE TO THE LARGE VOLUME OF TABLES A TD COULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OR IF THE TD IS CALLED TO WATCH A SPECIFIC TABLE; THE TD IS NOT REQUIRED TO SAY ANYTHING MORE THAN THE TIME AND RULES OF GAME AT BEGINNING AND GG AT THE END OF THE TOURNEY. 25) Two players from the same household cannot compete in league games against each other. They can play each other in tournaments. Two players from the same household also may not pick each other as partners. In the event that it is a random partner tourney and if they get paired to together that will be accepted unless we begin having problems with that rule from people taking advantage of it. Please go on the league page; left hand side, down to rules and read the additional rules cases has posted regarding playing people that you know. Cases also includes in these rules neighbors and people that you see every day. 26) Please help protect the privacy of all league members. We are more than willing to help any new member join the league and to answer questions regarding the league. Please do your best to ensure that this individual does indeed want information regarding the league and refer them to an admin in the lobby. An alternative is to refer them to http://www.myleague.com/mozzacans 27) EFFECTIVE AS OF 4\27\04....ALL NEW MEMBERS MUST BE AT LEAST 15 YEARS OLD BEFORE JOINING THE MOZZACANS. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A FAMILY LEAGUE IT IS VERY HARD TO MONITOR WHAT HAPPENS IN THE LOBBY AND IN GAME ROOMS. 28) NEW DOUBLES RULES: A] Kibitz must be on during play. b] If a player at your table appears to be stalling before every play, inform the TD so the table can be monitored. The TD will monitor the time elapsed between plays and, if necessary, issue a warning for slow play. Upon a third warning to the same team, a DQ will result. The TD alone determines when a warning is issued. The same rules regarding BRB also apply in doubles. In the event that one person stalls the game with either BRB or slow play, both members will get DQed not just the one doing the infractions of the rules so please keep your partner playing at all times. THERE WILL BE NO SUBS ALLOWED IN THE EVENT OF A DQ. c] TABLE TALK is any conversation between team members during a hand which may affect the outcome of a game. All talk between partners about the game is now limited to the following: GH, VGH, CYEP, GG, VGG, NMP, N33,and OUT P? The only allowable response to "OUT P?" is a yes or no. No other initials may be used. If a second warning about these matters is issued by the TD, a DQ will result. d. you have 3 minutes from time of pairings in a tourney to make table --sit--invite then opponent will make an sit.
Top Ten
The purpose of the League is to climb to the top and the competition for the rungs in the Top Ten is high. As such, we have special rules that apply for members in the Top Ten.
Expected Behavior
As a member of MyLeague, you are representing the League, the Admin staff, and all other members when you are participating on a MyLeague. It’s part of your responsibility as a member to act in a respectable manner within your League community.
Fill in the Blank
Although we have tried to be as detailed as possible, we can’t cover every aspect of gaming in our rules. Please be advised that just because something is not stated in our rules and policies, then that does not mean it is allowed. Use common sense. If it is something that will adversely affect other members and you might think twice about it, then it’s probably against the rules. The Admin staff will have the final say in such matters. If you have a specific question please feel free to contact us via E-mail.
