    sponge toffee
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. dark corn syrup
    1 tbsp. vinegar
    1 tbsp baking soda
    Combine sugar, syrup & vinegar in a 2 qt covered casserole. Microwave on full power 3 - 4 minutes.
    Uncover & cook another 5 - 10 minutes or until it reaches brittle stage when a small amount is dropped in cold water.
    Quickly stir in baking soda( the mixture will foam up)
    Pour into a buttered, foil-lined 8" square baking pan. Let stand to cool. Remove from pan & break into pieces.
