MyLeague has one of the simplest ranking systems ever used for competitive play. The concept was adopted from the ranking system used on the official Case’s Ladders. We call it a "Ladder" because each member holds a unique rank or "rung" that represents their standing among other members. The highest-ranked member holds the #1 Ladder position; for example, someone ranked #2 is ranked below the #1 member. The goal is to "climb" the Ladder all the way to the top!
- When you first join, you are placed in an “Unranked” category on the League.
- You become "Ranked" after winning your first League match. (Unranked members may play each other, and the winner becomes ranked at the bottom of the League.)
-
When you defeat a higher-ranked member, you move up in rank 50% the distance between their rank and your own.
- Example: If you are ranked #50 and you beat the #1 ranked member, then your new rank would be 25.
-
Your rank on the League does not go down if you lose a match unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY below you.
- Example: If you are ranked #5 and the #6 ranked member defeats you, then your new rank would be #6.
-
When members ranked below you are victorious against members ranked above you, it's possible the member will jump over you in rank and you will move down one rung. This depends on the ranks involved.
- Example(per 50% rank gain) :You are currently ranked #7. If the #10 ranked member defeats the #1 ranked member, then #10 will advance to the #5 rung and you will fall to the #8 rung.
-
League Names
- If your League name is deemed offensive or contains profanity, your account may be removed.
- If your League name is deemed abusive towards another member, your account may be removed.
- You can edit your League name by using the ‘My Account’ tab and choosing the ‘Edit Username’ option. If you have problems changing your League name, please use the ‘Contact Admin’ link, located on the 'Support' tab.
-
E-mail Address
- Your E-mail address must be kept current at all times, in case you need to be contacted. You can use the 'Edit E-mail Address' link on the 'My Account' tab to edit your E-mail address.
-
Password Security
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
- You are not permitted to share your password with anyone for any reason.
-
Inactivity
- In order to keep the League as dynamic as possible, your account will be automatically deleted if you are inactive for 255 days. However, one of the features of our Premium Membership Program is never being deleted for inactivity. Information regarding our Premium Membership Program can be found here .
-
Multiple Accounts
- Only one account is allowed per person. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- It is forbidden for more than one person to use or share the same account.
- Multiple accounts from the same location will be investigated and possibly removed.
-
Chat
- The best way to find League matches is to announce in chat that you are looking for a League match so that other members will know you are interested in League-play. You can also directly challenge a specific member in chat.
-
Formal Challenges
- Most Leagues permit the use of Formal Challenges. A complete overview of the Formal Challenge system can be found here .
-
5 time(s) Per Day
- You may play the same member 5 time(s) per day. However, you may play as many different members as you would like on any given day. A “MyLeague” day begins at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
-
Verify Information
- We recommend you ensure a potential opponent is also a member of the League before starting your match. You can do this very easily by searching for your opponent using the 'Search for Players' tool.
-
Opponents
- You are not allowed to report losses to another member that also plays from the same computer as you. Our security software will detect this activity if it is attempted, and participating accounts may be penalized or removed.
-
Sportsmanship
- The same rules that apply to behavior in chat (covered in a later section) also apply during matches.
-
Reporting the Loss
- In one-on-one matches, the loser of the match reports the loss to the winner.
- In partner matches, each member of the losing team reports a loss to both partners of the winning team. At the end of the match, you would either gain two wins or report two losses.
- In “free for all” matches (matches in which multiple opponents are competing against each other without partners), each loser of the match must report a loss to one overall winner.
- When playing matches with more than one opponent, it is important for losses to be reported in the proper order if rank will be affected by the order of report. You must report to the better-ranked opponent first in those cases. It is your responsibility to make sure you report in the correct order when necessary. Not doing so may result in penalty.
-
Unreported Matches
- If your opponent does not report their loss within one hour after completing the match or prior to starting another match, you should click on the “Contact Admin” link and then use the “Unreported Match” form.
- 1.
No cussing is allowed, either in general, or directed at particular individuals.
This applies to every ID a player has, it doesn't just apply to the yahoo ID
registered into Will Kill For Solids. If you are in Will Kill For Solids, and
you are caught cussing on a different ID than your league ID, you will still
run the risk of being boxed.
2. No racial or sexual abuse, we will not tollerate any racial/sexual harrassment, either in general, or directed at other members, or general room users, it doesn't matter if the comments were made in jest, or whether they were serious in nature, we will not put up with this sort of conduct. People who choose to conduct themselves this way will be banned indefinately.
3. No spamming or flooding, either your personal website, a general website, rival league or general rubbish that interfers with the running of the league. If you scroll a rival league in Beginners Lounge, you will be boxed indefinately.
4. No flooding our league address in other league rooms. If you are found to be doing this, again you will be boxed indefinately
5. Boosting in the lobby is strictly prohibited. This applies to each member equally, regardless of whatever ID they are on. If you are caught boosting in the lobby, whether it's on your league ID or another ID you own, you will be asked to remove the chains, if you do not, you'll be boxed for a period deemed suitable by Admin. This also goes for table locking.
6. Using Caps: The use of caps is restricted to the current Tournament Director, league Admin reserve the right to use Caps at any time to gain members attention for any reason. All other use of Caps is restricted. This is to avoid any undue confusion. If you use Caps, and a memebr of staff asks you to quit, then do so. Failure to comply with this request may result in some form of penalty -
Inactivity
- Members in the Top Ten must play a League match at least once every 3 days; otherwise, you will be automatically dropped five rungs and your inactivity counter is reset. There are no exceptions to this rule.
-
Cheating
- If you believe your opponent is cheating, then you should contact the Admin staff.
-
Abuse
- It is forbidden to abuse or harass another League member.
- It is important to remember that two wrongs do not make a right. If you are being harassed by another League member, contact the Admin staff for assistance. Do not take matters into your own hands or return the abuse, or you could be penalized as well.
-
Nice Guy Rule
- Please note that behavior guidelines govern all methods of communication. This includes chat, E-mail, message forums, instant messenger services, etc. Treat other members with respect!
Account Rules
Challenges
Note: Please consult the Admin staff regarding whether or not League challenges are permitted for this League. A challenge is defined as a request for a match with a higher-ranked member. Whether you are the challenger or the one being challenged, there are some rules that must be followed. Violating these rules may result in penalties. If you notice anyone violating these rules, please contact the Admin staff.
Playing a Match
Once you are ready to start playing a League match, there are some guidelines governing game play that you should keep in mind.
Reporting the Match
Once your match is completed, the loser of the match is responsible for reporting the loss immediately. You can report your matches using the 'Report Loss' button located on the 'Standings' tab. Please note the ‘Report Loss’ link should only be used for League matches and not for tournament matches; you should consult the TD with any questions regarding reporting tournament matches. If you have any problems reporting a loss, you should contact the Admin staff and request assistance.
Tournaments
The rules for a Tournament are determined by the Tournament Director hosting the event. You will find a summary of each individual Tournament, including a Rules page, if you follow the link for that specific Tournament.
League-Specific Rules
Will Kill For Solids: Yahoo & League Account Rules.
1. Your league ID MUST match your yahoo ID EXACTLY, if your yahoo ID is all lower case with numbers, your league name must be all lower case with numbers. If you have a yahoo ID that contains capital letters, the same letters in your league account name must be capitalized.
2. No racially, sexually or otherwise vulgar orientated names allowed. If you try to register withthis sort of name, it will be boxed or booted as soon as it's detected
3. No duplicate accounts allowed, we strictly run a 1 account per member policy in Will Kill For Solids. This policy is endorsed by CASESLADDER.COM and MYLEAGUE,COM. In the same way, we do not allow "mimic" ID's. These are ID's created by people on purpose to appear like another member, whether for fun, or to cause problems. Any duplicate or mimic accounts will be boxed or booted, as deemed fit by Admin.
4. To aid a friendly community, Will Kill For Solids also has special criteria, this is as follows:
4a.
Yahoo ID's must be out of provisional rating, and must have a legitimate rating
of at least 1100 & above, this is to cut out the chance of "sharking".
Sharking is the act of certain players with vast experience deliberately creating
provisional accounts, so as to get the maximum ammount of points off those
members with higher rates, rates they have worked hard to achieve.
Once these people have obtained the hard earned points of others, they then
boost them off onto their regular account. We in Will Kill For Solids find
this dishonest and unacceptable, it's effectively a form of stealing.
We understand that some innocent people may be caught up by this rule, and
we are genuinely sorry for any inconvenience caused, but past experience in
this department has forced us to implement this rule as a way of combatting
this dishonourable act
4b.
Boosted down ID's will not be allowed in Will Kill For Solids, for the same
reason as stated in 4a, though boosted up ID's will be allowed.
The reason why we allow boosted up, but not boosted down is simple. A boosted
down ID would be able to "steal" more points of a fair playing player
with a legitimate rate, while a boosted up ID would not take as many points,
in fact, the roles would be reversed, the genuine hard working player would
be more likey to take points off boosters. We feel this is ok because the boosters
are only inconveniencing themselves. If they don't want to lose their boosted
rate, don't join with it, simple as that.
Will Kill For Solids: Lobby & General Conduct.
Will Kill For Solids: League Games Guidelines.
1.
League games are to be played on RATED, PROTECTED
& UNTIMED tables (See part 7).
2. Players can only play the same opponent 3 times in any given
24 hour period (See part 7).
3. "Race-To's" are not allowed in Will Kill For Solids,
if you lose 1 game, you report the loss before playing the next game.
Players who cannot report straight away, have 24 hours to do so (See part 7).
4. We expect our members to show coutesy to each other at all
times, this goes for league games as well.
It is deemed polite to wish your opponent good luck before the game startes,
and congratulate/comiserate them at the end.
It is considered disrespectful to try to put players off in any way, either
by saying something while they are potting the 8 ball, or by any other untoward
manner.
5 . If your opponent gets disconnected, DO NOT
Force Forfeit (FF), you have to allow for 8 minutes for them
to reconnect. If by the end of this period they have not returned, you get the
win and they must report on their return. Remember, DO NOT FORCE
FORFEIT,
instead, click CANCEL at all times, if they don't report on
their return, contact admin by clicking the Contact Admin link on the league
page.
They will have up to 24 hours to report, failure to do so will result in administrator
intervention. We will report the loss and take measures to try to ensure this
doesn't happen again
If you are a victim of this, use the same methods as listed above and contact
Admin.
6. The "Rerack" rule.
A rerack can only be called if::
6a.
The 8 (black ball) is potted off the break. The rerack rule DOES NOT
apply if the following player pots the 8 ball on his first shot. Players should
NOT be coerced into agreeing to a rerack unless the first case scenario
applies.
*Rule 6a applies to Tournament Games as well
(to see a full list of Tournament Rules, check further down the
page)*
6b. Both players may, if the game gets to the point where
no inevitable outcome is likely, decide upon a "stalemate" situation.
This decision must be by mutual consent, and should only be considered if there
is no other outcome available. If this case arises, "All Bets Are Off"
so to speak, no one reports a loss, no one is victorious.
*Rule 6b only applies to league games, Tournament
Games are to be governed by the Tournament Director, he/she must decide to
call a rerack in this sort of situation*
7. If you have played a game against an opponent and won, and he/she
refuses to report, don't argue with them, just make a note of the time you played,
along with the opponent who won't report, and contact admin as soon as the game
is finished. You can contact us by clicking the Contact Admin link on the league
page.
Players are urged to report the loss immediately, sometimes they wont, or they
are unable to do so, in that case, they are given up to 24 hours to report.
If they fail to aknowledge the loss by reporting it, League Admin will step
in and report the loss for you. This is why we insist on league games being
played on RATED, PROTECTED & UNTIMED tables, we will use yours (and your
opponents) game history to sort conflicts of this nature. Protected tables will
also rule out any possibility off a random player jumping in and playing the
game while your true opponent is AWOL.
It is up to you to ensure the game table is configured correctly, so we can
aquire the relevent information when trying to solve disputes. If the information
is not there for us, we can't do anything about it.
Will Kill For Solids: Tournament Games Guidelines.
These rules
are relating to the general side of Tournament Games, for specific rules concerning
individual tournaments, consult the Director running the tournament in question.
1. Tournament Games are to be played on RATED, PROTECTED
& UNTIMED tables. As in league games, this is to allow league staff
to track game hsitory, as well as restricting others from joining tables while you
are waiting for an opponent to connect, or if they disappear without warning
Do NOT make your table private without the Tournament Directors
approval. TD's need to be able to access the tables at any time. If for any
reason you need to make your table private, get the attention of the TD running
the tournament, and make sure he is at your table before making it private.
2. During a tournament, the TD is the only person permitted to use Caps, although
league Admin reserve the right to use them for informational purposes.
3. The TD runs all aspects of his/her Tournaments, no other TD or member should
get involved. As such, the said director chooses when to scroll the address,
when to open check-in, when to close check-in, when to announce pairings. It's
the sole direction of the TD in charge, they are not to be forcefully harrased
into closing tournaments by impatient members.Torunament Directors also report
all losses, you do not need to report if you lose in a tournament
4. Players must wait for the TD to announce the pairings before starting the
next rounds, in the case of Swiss Tournaments, this is set, the next round will
never be allowed to start until the current one is finished. Please bear this
in mind.
6. The "Rerack" rule in Tournaments.
A rerack can only be called in a tournament if:
6a.
The 8 (black ball) is potted off the break. The rerack rule DOES NOT
apply if the following player pots the 8 ball on his first shot. Players are
not obliged to agree to a rerack unless the first case scenario applies.
*Rule 6a applies to League Games as well (to
see a full list of League Game Rules, check further up the
page)*
6b. If the situation arises where there is no inevitable outcome
to the game, both players may call the TD to the table, the TD will then view
the situation, and if required, will call for the rerack..
*Rule 6b only applies to Tournament
games*
7. Timers, Problems,General Questions & Disputes.
7a.
Timers:
If the situation arises where you find your opponent has gone missing, either
by choice, or by losing their connection, DO NOT Force Forfeit.
Get the attention of the TD running the tournament, and ask for a timer. Your
opponent will then be placed on an 8 minute timer. If they return before the
timer runs out, you carry on playing from where you left off.
If they do not return within the 8 minute period, you will get the win, but
remember, you still cannot Force Forfeit. You must click cancel when the dialog
box pops up
7b. Problems and General Questions:
If you have any problems or general questions about the Tournament in progress,
make a private table and invite the TD that is running it, they will advise
you as to what is what. They cannot coach you, so don't ask them for
tips on what shots to play.
7c. Disputes:
If you have a dispute with your opponent, whether he refuses to play, or he
has wrongfully reported the result to the TD, create a private table and invite
the TD to it. Give him/her all the necessary information, and he/she will decide
on what action to take.
In the event of a disputed result, the TD will check your games history to
check for the correct outcome, if they find it, they will enter the correct
outcome into the tournament database. If they are unable to find the correct
required details, then the game will have to be played again under the supervison
of the TD running the tournament. If this is the case, BOTH players are obliged
to replay the game, Any refusal to do so, will result in the forfeiture of
the game.
8. The Final & Closing Out The Tournament.
8a.
The Final:
After all the results have been given in, and it's down to the last 2 players,
the TD will step in and do everything else. The final table will be made by
the TD, and the 2 players in the final will be invited to play.
The final will then be announced in the lobby, and spectators will be welcome
to watch.
Please show courtesy to the players in the final, by keeping chat to a minimum,
failure to show due respect will result in you being booted from the final
table.
8b. Closing Out The Tournament:
Upon competeion of the final, the TD will congratulate the winner, and comiserate
the loser. He/she will then proceed to "close out" the tournament.
During this time, the winners will be be given details of ther awards by the
TD, then the final steps of closure will go ahead. Once the tournament is closed,
that's it, it's over, and the TD will thank you for playing
Will Kill For Solids: Issuing Formal Challenges.
The Formal
Challenge can only be implemented by the top 5 players on the ladder.
When a challenger issues a formal challenge to another player, the reciever,
the reciever should endeavour to set up an appointment within the next week
(7 days), either by email, through a messenger service such as MSN, YIM, or
ICQ or in the lobby.
The challenger must then reply to the appointment in the same way as above.
Both players need to be reasonable, and take into consideration the limitations
and restricitons of the other party.
The agreed upon appointement (within the next 7 days) will act as the deadline,
therein meaning that if a player issues a challenge on friday, and they agree
to play on sunday, then that sunday is the deadline to play. If either party
cannot meet this deadline after agreeing upon it, they will forfeit the game,
and will have to report the loss in the usual way.
If there is any possibility to play the game before the agreed date (ie both
players are in the lobby at any point before), they should play the game at
that moment in time. If there is a tournament in play, the challenger must wait
for the tournament to be completed and the reciever in question be available
to play before starting the challenge.
However, if the reciever to the challenge is in the lobby and is playing league
games when the challenger wants to play, he/she must finish the game they are
in, and then play the challenge match. Challenge matches overrule regular league
matches in priority, and should be played at the soonest opportunity they get.
Refusl to play the challenge before the agreed date by either party, may result
in rank drop or any other penalty seen fit by league admin.

League rules last updated: 21st May 2007 by Will Kill Solids Admin
Top Ten
The purpose of the League is to climb to the top and the competition for the rungs in the Top Ten is high. As such, we have special rules that apply for members in the Top Ten.
Expected Behavior
As a member of MyLeague, you are representing the League, the Admin staff, and all other members when you are participating on a MyLeague. It’s part of your responsibility as a member to act in a respectable manner within your League community.
Fill in the Blank
Although we have tried to be as detailed as possible, we can’t cover every aspect of gaming in our rules. Please be advised that just because something is not stated in our rules and policies, then that does not mean it is allowed. Use common sense. If it is something that will adversely affect other members and you might think twice about it, then it’s probably against the rules. The Admin staff will have the final say in such matters. If you have a specific question please feel free to contact us via E-mail.
