First of all, I would like to extend my sympathies for your League in this matter. I know how difficult it can be for a League to try and operate with an absent Head Admin.

Unfortunately, assigning a new Head Admin to a League is not something that we ever do lightly. We have to carefully balance the concerns of the original Head Admin with the concerns of the League's players, and that can get tricky.

As an example, there was one case we had a while back where we were convinced that the Head Admin had abandoned the League, and they had been gone for a while. We reassigned the League to another Admin so that they could help run the League. When the Head Admin did actually come back, they were (rightfully) upset that there had been a coup in their League. Matters were complicated by the fact that the new Head Admin did not want to give the League back to the old one (who had never actually made the choice to give it away).

So, as you can see, it can get really tricky trying to decide how to proceed in these situations, which is why we have to be very cautious. I do want to point out that I cannot think of a single time where we have transferred ownership of a League before the HA was missing for 6 months. In most of the cases I can think of, it was more than a year.

The option that would probably be the easiest for you would be to create a new League altogether. Platinum and Diamond members would be able to transfer their LadderBux, and the Admin Staff of the new League would be able to help all members transfer their League Stats to the new League. This would allow you to have your own League where you wouldn't have to worry about the missing Head Admin.

As for renaming your Admin account, if you'd like, Admin Support can help you with that. Just send in a Get Support mail and tell them that you want to change your Admin name, but your Head Admin is missing. They should be able to help you get your name changed with no problem. :)
