I don't know what the answer is to this problem or the answer to getting inactive players back to play as that is a lot of the problem is the league only has 406 active players and the majority of them play in the evenings. most players come in 30 minutes before a tourney starts to have enough time to find a pard and get signed up. Our team often chats in our team chat or play teamie games until the tourney starts because there isn't enough time to play a game before tourney starts. We try to play games 45 min-an hour before tourney starts and will even addy a game like this FFA @10 REG ndn play until tourney starts and that often gets players to play and the game ends when standings are up, sometimes we get a full game done, other times we finish the current hand and loser reports at that time. Most of the time we get more than 8 hands played when we addy games like that within 30-45 minutes before a tourney starts. We try to help those out that don't want to play tourney but I know as soon as tourney starts, it will be difficult to get a game until 1st or 2nd round is over. I watch a lot of players leave after they lose in tourney and wish they would stay for another game until more get out of the tourney to keep the room going. The league is really slow before 3:30 pm and it would help a lot if staff would pal more. Having td's play lobby games (not joining their tourneys) while hosting would also help keep those lobby games going. All they have to do is let the players at the table know they are hosting so when they take their occasional brb's to do the tourney reports the players don't ..... or get upset for the lag, It is better to play with a TD that is hosting than not having a game at all for over an hour. Our team is very active after 4 pm until the last opps leave when the room shuts down for the night. Our team mostly plays the 9:30 regular tourney and 12 or 12:30 Reg tourneys. We mainly join tourneys because that is the only way we can get games when we have 10-15 teamies in the room and get tired of waiting in line for hours to get enough opps to keep us all playing. Most of us will keep playing games after we are out of the tourney so people need to addy more games as soon as they get out of a tourney to keep players in the room longer and that is where I see the most problem, is people coming in just for tourneys and not staying to help others get lobby games that have waited for some players to get out of the tourney to get a game. Players join a tourney expecting to play 4 or 5 games through finals which on average is at least 2 hours, if everyone that loses in tourneys keeps playing those few hours that would help those out that didn't want to play in tourneys. Hang in there! this site is a lot smaller than the zone was and leagues are smaller than they used to be. Most of the younger generation have no desire to play or learn our card games, they are into high tech, fast moving video games with a lot of multi-tasking going on or the new strategy board games like Cataan. I have 3 adult kids in their 20's and none of them are interested in learning how to play spades. Sadly a lot of our spade generation have passed away since the zone days. We just have to be thankful for the spade friends we still have and do the best we can with what we have.
