I would like to make a few suggestions, if I may, about setting definate tournament times. Now that we are so lucky to have a number of people to recently join the td position,(and doing a super job I might add), it may be more advantageous for this format. To have them posted 24 hrs in advance and open them for registeration no later than 30 mins prior to the scheduled start of the tournament. This giving ample time to clear our schedules , if possible, finding a team partner, making sure of arriving in a timely manner not to delay the start of the games. Also a consideration of spaming in yahoo messenger maybe another possibility to notify and remind league members of an up coming tournament witnin the next 30 mins...therefore any one with the availabilty of yahoo messenger will be alerted. Other league members that have the ability to download yahoo messenger for this purpose may consider this option. One more suggestion and ill get off my soapbox here, with team tournaments an earlier start consideration may be warranted,10:00pm est, would be a good time for this due to the fact it takes longer to pair up, start and join teams than it does to play the game, hence the set tournament times. All of this preparation would need to be completed by the time the games begin. I know that there are tds that would love to participate more often in the tournaments and this might be the answer for them also... ok I am stepping off now...lol...just a few ideas thank you for reading them..........tc gl all members in the games .........and hugsss...Abby p.s. Many thanks to all of the td staff for their hard work at making this league a better place to meet, play, socialize, and have fun.........

The ideal situation would be to set tournies in advance if you know you want to host at a certain date and time. Some of us don't always know when we will be on to host (especially ME right now...lol). The is set up so that we can set tourneys in advance and set them on demand. That's how we should be hosting, set the tourney in advance if you know you will be on and want to host on a certain date and time, otherwise, set them up as you are available and have players to host.

      Thanks,

What has been proposed has been a possibility all along, you can set your tours far in advance. Denton normally has a few set a day or two in advance, the problem with it is, that you never know if you will have the jumpers. In the perfect pogo world, we would all be able to clear our schedules, but unfortunately, unlike our computers, our lives don't have delete buttons ;). When I was a td, I would set, when I had the jumpers, it made MY life easier; saved me from begging for jumpers, or having to move a tournament. I completely understand what you are saying Abby, I know the complications that can arise out of setting a tournament spontaneously, but they also can arise by setting one in advance. If a TD has an emergency, should they really have to stop what they need to do to cancel a tournament? I don't think we can or should ask that of our TDs, people who already give enough of their time. What I'm saying in a long, convoluted way is, it's good in theory, and practical in some ways, but not always the ideal situation. Who knows when they will be able to get on the comp at all times? And when there are 10 ppl in a room, wanting a tour, but theres not one set, do we tell them sorry, it has to be set for 24 hours? If not, then we will still be facing the same problems we are having right now. Maybe what we need to do is set a standard, yet SLIGHTLY flexible, length of time a TD should wait for jumpers who are having problems getting in, no matter who they are. If I am having problems, I certainly don't expect a TD to wait for me, and would hope that others would feel the same. What this league needs more than anything, is consideration for the majority, not the minority. Why should someone who's well liked be allowed to hold up a tournament, and not the same consideration given to someone who's not liked as much? We are a league of fair play, let's live up to that.
