  • Top 10 Rank Defence Rule View
      by -Ls2-Dimension on December 5, 2008 at 18:54:13 PST

I am currently in the penalty box for 1 day after breaking the defence rule. Why this rule is in force still I don't know because it would seem that many who play don't really care about what rank they are, they simply just want to get on and play games. If this is true, why is it that we are being penalised for not defending rank?

Lets not forget that only a short while ago, the leap frog rule regarding rank 2 getting a shot for rank 1 before being bumped was abolished. Perhaps players at rank 2 aren't too bothered if they get a shot at rank 1.

In addition, it seems unfair that a person should be penalised because the player ranked below them is away on holiday for example. This is of no fault to the player that is quite happy to defend their rank. It is also clear that certain players from different time zones will very rarely get to play each other. So what happens when these players are ranked directly above and below one another?

I also think that putting players in the penalty box for days on end is the wrong way to go about things. The Worms community is small as it is so why stop individuals who play regularly from playing? I would guess the majority of times this rule has been broken, is has been accidental and a simple move in rank would be sufficient.

The way I see things is to either put a stop to the rule, or when the rule is broken, rank drop the player only.

I have put across my views on this matter and it would be nice to see what other players think about it. Let yourselves be heard...

I must admit that you make some valid points, but unless alternatives are available in the voting booth, we wont get achance to change it.

I dont mind rank reductions and have never been penalty boxed, so I couldnt comment on that.

But surely if there is uncontentment you should email cases with possible solutions for a possbile vote?

I dont feel there is anything wrong with taking a rank reduction, in fact, I feel both players should be lowered if they cannot play, then the onus is on both of them to make more of an effot to play the match.

Boxing these people is all well and good but you leave them in the same ranks meaning in theory they break the rules even further because they are prevented from defending lol?

Surely if you box em you gotta drop em too?

: Surely if you box em you gotta drop em too?

That was my mistake. They should have been rank dropped as well.

Dimension, you and one or two others are the only people who seem to have difficulty following the rules. I would think a grown man such as youself would be able to follow the few simple rules this ladder has but you have proved time and time again that you are constitutionally incapable of following even the simplest of rules. This unsportsmanlike behavior had continued for virtually the entire time you have played on the Worms2 ladders which is many years at this point.

There is no chance that we will remove every rule that you cannot seem to follow. There are very few rules, and 95% of the players who play this game never break them. Those that do, such as yourself, always have some childish excuse or denial.

We have had endless conversations on ventrilo about your unsportsmanlike behavior but still you don't seem to be able to grasp the ideas of fair play and sportsmanship.

I have been the Lead Op on this ladder for the better part of five years and if not for you and one or two others who refuse to abide by the agreement to follow the rules that you made when you signed up for Case's Ladder, there would be no cheating at all. It is always the same players violating the same rules. It's pathetic in my opinion.

The rank defense rule is common to every game on Case's Ladder. That you fail to see it's value does not surprise me given your state of mind. Case's Ladder only allows "Game Specific" rules to be modified, and to that end I have already done all I can to remove archaic rules so that we can play more games.

Because of my leadership as Op we have eliminated the 1 vs. 2 rule, the one game per day rule, and the back to back rule.

          I suggest that you either:

a)grow up and follow the rules just like the younger players on this laddder do

          (or)

b)find somewhere else to cheat children.

            1. Me and Elite tried to play 3 times but could not connect. Why should I rank drop because we cannot connect.

            2. I do not cheat. If this rule has been broken by me it would be by mistake. Unlike you, I do not keep a pen and notepad next to me and tick off how many days I haven't defended my rank for. I just want to play games end of. I also guarantee that hardly anyone on this ladder even bothers to check what rank they are. It seems no one cares but you. In your words, "Its pathetic in my opinion".

Rules have never been important to you. That is why you have been among the biggest rule violators this ladder and especially the rope ladder have ever seen.

You are obsessed with your silly stats. You will do anything to appear better than someone else. The funniest thing about it is that you are amongst the best players so your incessant cheating, avoiding, mongering, restarting, newb hunting, etc. isn't even neccessary for you to have elite stats.

I often find myself in the top ten and unable to defend. Rather than just ignore the rules I simply take a voluntary rank reduction. Ppls, Fritz, Motech, Hunter, and many others do the same. Only you, my pathetic friend, continually allow your account to be in violation of the rules without concern.

The fact of the matter is that you agreed to abide by the rules yet you ignore them This means your word is no good. This means to me that YOU as a man are no good.

Your sketchy unsportsmanlike behavior for the past many years supports any ill will I or others may harbor against you. Your reputation around here with just about everyone is less than favorable whereas mine is spotless. That is of course unless you ask other people who could not seem to follow a few simple rules such as yourself and have been penalized for it.

I couldn't care less what cheating, sketchy, unsportsmanlike miscreants like you and your kind think. You are clearly misguided.

And just for your information, I do not act on any rule violations without a player on the ladder complaining about it. I happen to be the one who sees each and every piece of mail submitted to the Case's Ladder Support mail . I happen to know that I am NOT the only one who cares about the rules. More often than not the person that the other players are complaining about is you.

If instead of making lame excuses and whining like a sniveling little 10 year old girl for being punished, if you would exert the same effort into being a good sportsman, you may not find it too hard to be one. Unfortunately it is my belief that something went terribly wrong when your parents were raising you and you will never understand the honor behind being a man of your word and a good sportsman.

I will pray for you. In the meantime, follow the rules or you will be penalized.

                  Heres the deal.

Follow the rules. No more problems.

Makes excuses for why you are above the rules as you have always done, and I'll stay on you like flies on #!*^.

The ball is in your court.

                    Exactly.

If we all follow the rules, everyone gets along, everyone gets to play, and nobody feels like they're getting the short end of the stick on account of rank, stats, etc.

Really it's not so hard. You can always contact the op if you're going to be idle, or if you can't defend, or whatever....

It always seems to be the same people getting disciplined... just saying.
