As we embark upon a new year and approach the 5th Anniversary of the Big Four League (January 24th), we can reflect upon and be extremely thankful for our group.
The league is more than a game league... it is a group of friends, many as close as family. We gather together at different times daily and we play a game. But, the game is not the reason we gather. We have the opportunity to be with friends.
We listen and we all listen very well when one of our "family" needs to talk. Whether it be health problems, family politics problems, relative's or friend's health issues, or any other issue, we truly care about each other.
When you think about it, it's really amazing. How do we get so close to people we have never met in person? It's because a group of truly wonderful people have found true friendship and put their lives on hold for a period of time to meet together, with a game going on in the background. It has come to be our sanctuary from the "real world". Over the years, we've laughed together, we've cried together, and we've offered advice together. This great group of people is always there for each other. The TD's have given many, many hours of their time in order that we can have our "get-togethers". They do it because we are not a typical gaming league. They do it because it is their way to contribute to keeping these wonderful friendship gatherings as part of all of our lives.
In closing, let's also remember at this time, those TD's and members who have passed on into God's loving arms, and continue to be our friends for eternity.
