Hey you firewall scrabble playing techies...I attempted recently to install ZoneAlarm Pro onto my work station. Although I had great success configuring it for the myriad of programs running on my machine it did not co-exist properly with Scrabble. I discovered during my trials that when starting Scrabble it would lock during the graphics initialization phase with multiple screen artifacts and nothing intelligible to be seen! A perusal of the ZoneAlarm log file indicates that ZoneAlarm is blocking the access from Scrabble to my next upstream router. I have specifically configured ZoneAlarm to not block this communication, furthermore, I have configured ZoneAlarm to not block any communication to or from the Scrabble program. It appears to block it anyway!A Sniffer trace of the resulting underlying communication shows that the data link layer (that would be layer 2 on the OSI protocol stack) is functioning properly. This is either a layer 3 or 4 issue. I don't believe Winsock is the culprit although I'm not ruling out that possibility.
Have any of you seen such behavior and if so do you have a cure? Please Help!!
